Project closure question
Submitted by working_hard on Mon, 08/22/2011 - 04:46
Could someone heIp me with the following two project closure scenarios?
1. After the project closure has been completed, if the customer reports a defect/issue with the product, does the seller have any responsibility?
2. During the project closure process, after the Product has been formally accepted, if the customer reports a defect/issue with the product does the seller have any responsibility?
Thanks in advance.

It depends on the contact -
It depends on the contact - if there is a warranty support then you may have to fix it. However since the project is formally closed it will not be part of the project, and seller will not be responsible
Lets take an example
1. Suppose the project is to build a house, once you have closed the project after verifying and made payments as agreed even if you find some leakage or some defect in the house, the seller is not responsible, since you have verified and then accepted the project and made the closure. However you may still ask the seller to fix the issue for you and pay extra for the same.
2. In case of software projects, if you find a defect when using the product then the person with whom you have signed up maintenance contract would be fixing the issue and not the seller.
