Performance appraisals vs recognition and rewards


Question: Which techniques used on HR knowledge area is providing benefits to team members individually and who gives benefits to the entire project team? Project performance appraisals vs recognition and rewards ?

Recognition/Rewards are generally meant for individuals and project performance appraisal is for team as it would evaluate the effctiveness of the project. Correct me if wrong?

Recognization/reward systems are part of team building and its a motivation factor for team members, whereas performance appraisal is for individuals. Team effectiveness assesment is different from performance appraisal.
