failed

Last Saturday, I tool the PMP exam and failed it miserably with BP on all 5 areas.  I'd taken the PMP exam workshop course from my local PMI chapter as well as the PMP-Prep Cast.  Add to that, various sample tests and late night studying.  I know I bombed the formula questions and those relating to critical path, but took the risk because I was told they would only account for a small number and I just wanted to get through it.

Suffice it to say, my strategy didn't pan out.  Now I have to retake it, I've been dealing with a bit of depression and regret as well as an overall feeling of failure.

The strange part about it for me is that I felt pretty good after the test, I through I'd squeek by (after all, 106 questions out of 200 should be fairly easy, right?).  It certainly didn't feel like I got a BP on every section.

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

Please read what I just posted a minute ago! I failed on May 30th but passed on July 5th, and I would like to share my experience with you.

I'm not sure, I like emmalynn05's study plan but not sure at this point.  I have the Rita book, the PMbok (4) and the study slides from my PMI course.  My primary resource was the Rita book, although I just skimmed it.

I blame my outcome on overconfidence and lack of sufficient study.  Having said that, what would you recommend?

I need all the advice I can get at this point.

I was also "overconfident" when I failed the first time. That definitley brought me down a few notches! The PMP does not measure your level of intelligence! We are both very intelligent people, but the material just has to be studied in depth, it's that simple. The best thing that worked for me was taking mock tests and filling in the gaps based on results. Just figure out what works best for you. You can do this!

I appreciate the encouragement.  I've rescheduled it for 7/27, I had to schedule it far away and will require a hotel room the night before since it's right before the 7/31 cutoff for the PMbok 4 exam (all of the local centers are full for last 2 weeks of July).

It's going to be some serious studying between now and then.  I'll keep the thread updated.

I failed with only one MP, I was overconfident too, I took  a class in the local chapter, now I have the exam scheduled 7/23.

I am foccussing more on my week areas where I felt I during the exam that I had to scratch my head.

Good Luck to all of us !
