After PMP

 Hi friends,

I passed my PMP exam in Nov and looking forward to educate myself more. I am interested to take PMI-RMP exam but I do not have the required experience for it. Could some one advice how I could apply for  PMI-RMP? Is the PMP  credential enough for it?

You should not take any more certifications unless its really relevent to your job or career. PMP is a defacto standard in the industry, especially in some countries. However most other certifications like RMP or SP don't have a direct sellability like PMP

  • YOu can do RMP if you are into Risk management or want to make a career. However RMP is far from being recognized as a standard
  • SP - again if you have a specialized stream for scheduling you can choose this
  • ACP- This may have some value - especially if you want to be agile professional. But then you should compare ACP with some other certifications and decide.

After PMP , in majority of cases you dont need to get another certification. Your job experience will speak much louder .

Most people who do other certifications are either in academics ( teaching profession) or its a company requirement.

Try to now focus on how you can successfully deliver projects, what best practices you will adopt, what will be your style as a PM. What types of projects you will specialize in ( when it comes to delivery). ?. How will you bring in value to your client and stakeholders.

Life of PM is exciting as there is some learning everyday. Share with PM communities and learn from everyone. :)
