PMP exam passed first attempt

First time posting here..

Passed exam today in my first attempt with 4 P and 1 MP.  The exam was pretty easy and I was very confident getting Proficient for all 5 but for the Closing area got an MP , which I believe was because I was getting overconfident as the exam went on and did not mark some of the Closing questions for later review :-(

Some notes from the exam:

- 8-10 questions on EVM. If you have a good handle on this, it'll be a breeze.

- 5-6 questions gave scenarios and asked what type of Risk strategy it was indicating

- Not many questions on ITTOs but there were some indirect ones

- 4-5 questions on CPM and related areas

- 30-40 straight forward one to two line questions. If you have gone through and understood PMBoK once, you should get these easily.

Preparation:

-  6 weeks of solid preparation. Planned this as a project itself ;-)

- Read thru Head First PMP to get a feel of the exam and topics

- Then registered for a online course to get the 35-hours educ. While going through course, read through PMBoK in parallel. Bought the Rita book but did not use it much

- Created mnemonics to memorize certain things (about 2 pages worth of cheat sheet)

- Took about 10 practice exams , 2 exams every week after the first week of preparation

Addl tips that I can think of now:

- Become resilient in finishing the exams at home without breaks or 1-2 breaks (I took three breaks in the actual exam)

- Build up speed and try to finish practice exams without relaxing. I finished the last 5 exams in 3 hrs or less. I took about 2 hrs and 45 mins to finish the actual PMP exam today. Spent another 30 mins to review about 30 qns that I had marked

- Relax, relax, relax. I would have done better if I had relaxed a bit instead of being hyper today. ;-)

Reply or email me in case anyone has any questions. Feel free to tap me as a resource; will try to help any way I can.

Congrats Anjoo. This is a great achievement. Well done.

Just wondering what practice exams did you give and how well did you score on them.

Thanks in advance,

Nachi

I am giving my exam on 29th..so just another day to go..

any special tips or any materials/review notes/pmbok guide you suggest I review in the last day?

Nachi,

Most important thing is to relax. Do not worry about forgetting things or the exam being difficult.

Pace yourself well in the exam. Have a look at the clock but don't let that clock control you.

Take a break when needed.

Prior to exam:

Read through any notes, mnemonics that you have created for yourself. Don't try to memorize anything in the last few hours. Skim the PMBoK or whichever material you are most comfortable with today.

All the Best !
