Passed PMP 10/17 - some things I found helpful

Hello all - passed my PMP exam on 10/17. Got 1 MP and 4P for score.

Here is what I did to study:
1. Took 2 in person study groups that used Crosswind PMP success series book (hosted by local PMI chapter).
2. Used online exams from that book as well as in book exam.
3. Read PMBOK and crosswind book each 3 times and would read PMBOK chapter, Crosswind chapter, take a quiz and if not passing, would repeat for that chapter.
4. Used Chris Sordo's books and test questions on PMI ebook site and completed all the exam questions and studied why I got questions wrong.
5. Made flashcards (2 sets - 1 for equations/concepts, 1 set for ITTOs)
6. Studied hard for about 2-3 months and focused on practice exams the last 2 weeks. Re-read chapters as necessary to reinforce areas that required more concentration.

I think the practice tests were the most valuable thing I could use, especially trying them from different sources. Learning from my mistakes helped me learn what the PMI was looking for in terms of questions. My exam ended up having many earned value and communication channel questions and those I practiced heavily. In the end, it was not as bad as I thought the exam would be thanks to taking the equivalent of 10 PMP exams prior to the real thing.

Good luck to everyone taking their exams soon! I am more than happy to discuss any questions you have.
